CHO MIN GYU, member of the crossover group FORESTELLA, returns as a solo artist after 4 years and 9 months.
CHO MIN GYU will release his second EP album “SWEET ESCAPE” on September 10 at 6 p.m. KST on various online music sites and will begin full-fledged activities. This album is a new release that sensitively weaves elements of jazz and pop around bossa nova, offering a moment of escape and sweet rest in the middle of a busy daily life. CHO MIN GYU directed the overall production as a co-producer alongside producer Butterfly, incorporating even deeper musical capabilities as a solo artist.
The lead song “Next to you” is a romantic proposal song in which CHO MIN GYU directly participated as a co-composer. He expresses a sincere confession toward the loved one with lyrical lyrics and a smooth voice.
The intuitive confession line “결혼해줄래 love you next to you (Will you marry me love you next to you)” in the music video teaser revealed the day before keenly raised listeners’ expectations.
The tracklist of side tracks through various collaborations also stands out. The first track “Komorebi” saw CHO MIN GYU directly take charge of writing the lyrics in Portuguese, while ITO GORO, guitarist of the world-renowned bossa nova duo naomi & goro, took charge of composition, arrangement, and production, adding a musical perfection that transcends borders.
In addition, a total of 7 songs is included, such as the side track of the same name “Sweet escape” featuring singer-songwriter Milena, “Ternura antiga” reinterpreted with CHO MIN GYU‘s delicate and smooth voice, and “리스본행 야간열차” for which he teamed up again with composer Park Hyeri.
Having successfully completed a listening session with fans on the 8th prior to his return, CHO MIN GYU plans to convey his music directly on stage. He will present live performances of these new songs for the first time during his solo concert “MONO DRAMA 2026 : SWEET ESCAPE” to be held on September 19 and 20 at the Woori WON Banking Hall of Bluesquare located in the Yongsan district of Seoul.
