A first episode filled with emotions and promises: “SANTOS BRAVOS” kicks off strong, immediately immersing us into the world of this new survival music show where every detail matters.
What is SANTOS BRAVOS?
SANTOS BRAVOS is an international music survival show produced by Hybe Latin America, with the goal of creating a brand-new Latin American boy band, also called “Santos Bravos”. Sixteen young talents from Latin America, Europe, and the United States are participating, guided by an elite team:
-
Kenny Ortega, director and choreographer best known for High School Musical,
-
Johnny Goldstein, music producer (who has worked with artists like Shakira and Daddy Yankee),
-
Raab Stevenson, vocal coach who has trained stars like Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and SZA.
The show’s structure and format are managed by Hybe Latin America, following a rigorous methodology inspired by K-pop and adapted to the Latin market. The production also includes showrunner Jaime Escallón-Buraglia and producer Lucas Jaramillo.
An International Cast of Young Artists
In this episode, viewers get to see the auditions in front of the jury. The large preliminary rounds, which gathered hundreds of applicants, are not shown: instead, we dive straight into the more intimate audition process.
Among the contestants, Kauê, 18, from Brazil, dreams of “changing the world, helping people” through his music. Kenneth, the youngest at only 15, comes from Mexico and already has TV experience thanks to a reality show. From Spain, Alex tries his luck, as does Drew, 25, from the United States. Mexico is strongly represented with Leo (23), Patricio, and Diego (23). Heider (23) comes from Venezuela, Ianis (21) from Argentina, and Priano (24) from Colombia.
The critical moment of the phone call, when the contestants receive confirmation of their selection, marks a powerful emotional turning point: each of them realizes that their dream has truly begun.
Discovering the Dorm and the First Challenges
After the auditions, it’s time for community living. The sixteen participants discover the residence where they’ll be staying throughout the show. Split into rooms of two or three, they’ll have to learn to live together in an environment where Spanish is the main language. For those who speak mainly English or Portuguese, adapting quickly will be essential.
The experience becomes even more poignant as families watch their children leave. Contestants come from vastly different backgrounds: some grew up close to the music industry, while others come from very modest, even precarious, circumstances.
Intense Training and a First Decisive Evaluation
The journey is only beginning. Training is expected to be tough, and the first evaluation will take place after one week. Out of the sixteen contestants, not all will make it into the final group: the competition will be ruthless.
A Glimpse of Episode 2
The teaser for the next episode, titled “Comienzo”, has already been released and promises even more challenges and emotions. You can watch it here:
