V of BTS revealed the reason why he volunteered for the Military Police Special Duty Team (SDT), and he has since been eliciting enthusiastic reactions from fans by showing warm camaraderie toward a comrade from the training center.
Recently appearing on the YouTube channel “요정재형”, V looked back on his military service period and stated:
“I came out of the Special Duty Team (SDT). I carried out a lot of internal suppression missions, and I learned close combat as well as martial arts a lot.”
In particular, concerning the reason for his application, he honestly confessed: “If I had to go anyway, I didn’t want my brain to suffer. I wanted my body to suffer.”
He continued by declaring: “The training was difficult, but it was a place where one could receive a lot of great training. I also did rappel training and overcame my fear of heights.”
He also mentioned his promise to fans. V explained: “Because I had promised fans to return with a healthier appearance, I really worked out ardently.”
In this context, a video of a military life anecdote recently shared by a comrade from V‘s training center also attracted attention.
A content creator, who revealed he had shared army training center life with V, shared videos containing stories from their time at the training center one after another via social media. However, concerns were raised among some fans, wondering if “private stories were not being excessively disclosed”.
As the controversy grew, the creator in question expressed his intention to stop uploading videos, but V personally left a comment, thereby changing the atmosphere.
V expressed his joy at meeting him again by writing: “It’s been a long time. Your memory is no joke”, before adding his support: “Hey, why? Make it known even more widely. For me, it’s fun.”
With the controversy persisting afterward, V again left a long comment.
He stated:
“There are many looks that appreciate and thank you for the video you filmed with care, but on the other hand, it seems there are also a bit of worried looks. In any case, for me, it was very fun.”
He continued by comforting him: “In life, it seems there are times when, even if one does something with good intentions, it is perceived differently because everyone’s perspective is distinct. I would like you not to pay too much attention to all those looks.”
He showed camaraderie by confiding notably: “In our squad, you were the best element, and I really appreciated the time I did my military service with you”, then: “If one is not a person who directly lived with us, it could be difficult to fully understand what we felt.”
He also added: “I am leaving a comment because I was afraid you would do bench press while being needlessly stressed because of these reactions”, concluding with: “I always support you.”
Fans showed reactions such as: “Even though he is a global star, his way of taking care of people is impressive”, “The reason for his application to the SDT suited him well, and his way of protecting his comrade suited him well too”, or even: “It’s beautiful to see that he considers the relationship formed during military life as precious.”
V enlisted in December 2023, served within the Special Duty Team (SDT) of the Republic of Korea Army Military Police Corps, and completed his military service in June of last year.
