Today is a great day for the young SAMUEL KIM, as he officially debuts solo.

Many of you have known the young singer for a little while for being a trainee of Pledis Entertainment (he was supposed to debut with the SEVENTEEN), a member of duo ONE PUNCH or even in solo.
But today, he appears under his own name, as SAMUEL, and presents himself to the Korean press and Kstation TV with his first mini-album: “Sixteen“.
This year, it is impossible to talk about SAMUEL without mentioning his participation in the show Produce 101 season 2. Indeed, the boy was immensely put forward by the program, which saw in him an artist who could join the final group . And the young man was able, with a lot of work, to show his potential on stage and thus captivate the eyes of the teachers and the fans.
But, though he got to the final, the votes were not favorable to him and he could not join the winning group. A sad news for the young boy who admitted then:
“Following the results in the show, when I came back home, I went to the bathroom to cry.”
A blessing in disguise:
At the end of the show, the head of his agency said that “The young man was still the winner for him, because he had shown what he was capable of“. And he asked the fans: “Wait a little more, SAMUEL will be back soon with his first mini-album“.
A debut Showcase à la SAMUEL:
It is then today, August 2nd, that the young SAMUEL unveils his first mini-album, “Sixteen“, to the press and fans.
In a New York street decor, the showcase begins with the viewing of the mini-album’s video teasers, before SAMUEL appears on stage to perform his title track “Sixteen“. Surrounded by 4 dancers, the young man expresses his American side with an adapted choreography and the song is summed up by these few words:
“Sweet 16, 16, 16“
Expressing the sweetness, the spirit and the desires one has at this age, that of the young singer. This first title is a collaboration with the rapper Changmo.

The next two performances are made on “With U“, in duet with a dancer, where the young man expresses his choreographic sensuality, and on the dance version of “Get Ugly” which he had chosen to interpret in the Produce 101 Season 2 show.
Following the presentation of his first mini-album “Sixteen“, consisting of 6 tracks – “Jewel box”, “Sixteen” the main title, “I got it”, “With u”, “1 2 3” and “I’m ready “composed and produced by the producers of Brave Entertainment – SAMUEL poses in front of the photographers’ cameras and he is joined by Brave Brother 용감한 형제 (producer of different albums of artists such as BIGFLO, ROMEO, STELLAR, AOA …).
The MC then takes the opportunity to ask the producer what he thought of his first meeting with SAMUEL:
“It was a child who was holding his mother’s hand, he was 11 years old, he was in middle school.”
Before adding:
“His album is quite in the sounds of Brave Entertainment, ‘Krnb’, ‘Khiphop’ … That’s what we want to show. SAMUEL is very talented and still has many talents to unveil, so support him.”
SAMUEL then talks about his album, his projects and answers in all sincerity and natural to questions from the journalists, of which many are related to the end of Produce 101 Season 2. To what the young man answers:
“I was very disappointed and it touched me a lot not to be selected. But when I went back to class, my friends supported me a lot and they keep pushing me to become a better singer.”

“With the “hyungs” of WANNA ONE, we get along very well and it’s hard to say who I’m closest to. Maybe…. Park Jihoon and Daniel. At the moment with our schedules it’s very difficult to get in touch, I only received a message from Kwan Lim”.
His biggest role model is CHRIS BROWN:
“For me he has a huge charisma when he goes on stage, I would like to be like him. I wish I had the chance to do world tours later, but it’s still difficult to look far into the future.”.
To the question in which country he would like to go, the young man makes the assembly laughs with a small mistake that accentuates its naturalness and its cute side.
“I would like to go to Italy … To see … (making a sign with his hands shaped in tip) … the Eiffel Tower !!!”
The MC corrects him by reminding him that he thinks the Eiffel Tower is rather in France. (while glancing at our Kstation TV reporter).
“Oh yes … My apologies, I’m sorry, yes I wish to go to France. My friends who have traveled told me a lot about this country and its excellent food. It made me want to go there.”
SAMUEL ends on what Produce 101 Season 2 has brought him:
“Thanks to the show I’ve learned to manage the stage, the stress and how to show the different musical colors that I want to reveal.”
August 2nd marked the official debut of young SAMUEL, a singer full of energy and talent with a naturalness that makes it even more endearing.
