TOP MEDIA ENTERTAINMENT group UP10TION made their comeback at the start of the year with a tenth mini-album called “NOVELLA“.
The group consists of seven of the ten original members for this comeback, namely KOGYEOL, XIAO, KUHN, BIT-TO, SUNYOUL, GYUJIN and HWANHEE. The remaining members, WOOSEOK, JINHYUK and JINHOO, focus on either a solo career for the former two or compulsory military service for the latter. The male group is only returning six months since their last comeback, with the members seemingly happier to stand on stage. They start the showcase by wishing a happy new year, and expressing their enthusiasm. During their break, they prepared themselves hard for this album, while taking care of their health with the Covid and the freezing cold of this season. This album comes in two versions (Still and Sequence), and is composed of six songs telling a sweet romance novel, hence its title, while highlighting the charisma and sensuality of the members.
This new mini-album therefore has six titles, being the following:
- « Give love » : A way in which we thank a person for the love they have given us with our own love.
- « Crazy about you » : Reminiscent of a past love after a painful breakup. The group expresses its wish to return to the past to relive these moments.
- « Pandora » : Insist on letting go of our inner instinct which until then was locked in a Pandora’s box.
- « Incredible » : Sense of excitement you get when you meet your loved one on a snowy day.
- « Fall » :Sadness felt after a painful breakup, and the feeling of emptiness that lives in us afterwards.
- « Sad ending » :Confused feelings experienced when trying to get over a breakup, like the final monologue in a movie.
During the showcase, members have fun replacing the lyrics of the title song “Crazy about you” with terms that drive them crazy, like ice cream, deliveries and more. In addition, members XIA, KUHN and BIT-TO participated in the writing of five of the six songs featured on the album, adding a sensitive touch to the lyrics. The concept here is to describe the different stages when one falls in love, until the break with the loved one. Despite the heavy theme of this album, the group wants to show a sensual and sexy image of which UP10TION has the secret. It is important for young men to prove that seven years since their debut, they are still in their best shape.

Having been involved in the lyrics writing, the members hope their new songs will appeal to their audiences and fans. The two versions of the album represent the different phases of the romantic relationship, “Sequence” representing the fulfilling and happy romantic relationship, and “Still” the pain of the breakup. The group concludes the showcase after the performance of “Crazy about you” by sending wishes for new year. They wish the health and happiness of their fans, and hope that people will get to know them. Of course, they hope the Covid will go away, and the MC sums up this comeback with the phrase “After spring, summer, fall, there is UP10TION“. As for KUHN, he underlines the presence of two members being of tiger sign, HWANHEE and XIAO, being a pretext for them to work twice as much in 2022.
