LEE JINHYUK: A destructive love

Solo singer LEE JINHYUK of TOP MEDIA is making his comeback on Monday August 29 with a fifth mini-album bearing the name “5IGHT”.

After making his debut in 2019, the young singer offers the song “Crack” for this comeback, oriented on the theme of love and meeting in order to be in contact with his loved ones and his fans. However, while his previous albums were bright and sparkling, “5IGHT” adopts a more charismatic and sensual concept. To do this, the album is divided into two versions, “FIRST SIGHT” and “DEEPER”.

The first version represents the sparks felt when falling in love at first sight, while the second focuses on the feelings felt after a long relationship. It is therefore a powerful comeback that the singer offers, nine months since his last comeback.

The showcase begins with a short photo session to introduce the singer to the journalists present. Indeed, because of the health crisis, this is the first time that LEE JINHYUK is doing a face-to-face showcase. This comeback is therefore all the more significant for the young man, although he has had other opportunities to be in contact with people thanks to his other activity; acting. He says he even passed American auditions to participate in filming, in order to give himself new challenges to take up.

The singer is represented by the word “workholic”, since he never loses a moment to work, being a perfectionist. For this album, he defines love as a feeling that can take many forms, and that this sexy concept was one he had wanted to try for a while. This comeback therefore represents a 180 degree turn for the artist.

He worked very hard for this comeback because for his last shoot, he had to gain eleven kilos. He says he has lost eight so far, and that the preparation for this album was more physical than musical.

Discussing now the songs composing the album, LEE JINHYUK defines “Crack” as being a title representing the turmoil of the feeling of love, when love does not lead to happiness, but to dependence and confinement, creating internal cracks. The concept, in addition to being sensual, is therefore also tragic. Regarding the shooting of the music video, it took about three days. He hopes that the public will respond warmly to this new album.

In order to stir up the expectations of journalists, LEE JINHYUK dances part of the chorus which he considers to be the key part of the choreography, when he undulates his body to the sounds of “oh yaya”. He delivers a filming anecdote, where he had to violently hit a car, but that by aiming badly, he actually hit his ankle. To return to the tracks making up the album, the song “Exit” is an invitation, when one has the feeling of being in a dead end and the singer turns out to be the only way out.

The third track, “Toy”, is a more cheerful song, seeking to bring comfort to the people listening to it, by becoming their stuffed animal or their toy in order to stay by their side. Then, “Morning call” is an acoustic song telling that it is too late to regret the departure of the loved one, that we must continue to move forward despite the ups and downs felt. “Rooftop” brings a touch of hope, affirming that the future will be joyful and bright and that we have the right to rest as we ascend into the future. Finally, the last track “Jungle” is a metaphor that the world we live in is actually a wild and fierce jungle.

When the presenter asks LEE JINHYUK who is the object of the singer’s desires, the person for whom he fell in love, the artist replies “his public”, and addresses a shy “I love you” to the journalists present, in asking them to write positive articles about his comeback. The singer then leaves the stage to prepare for the first-ever live performance of “Crack”. Before that, a video medley presenting the songs of the album is broadcast, then LEE JINHYUK enters the stage for his performance.

The performance of “Crack” then invades the room, LEE JINHYUK being charismatic and sensual as he hoped. Once the artist returns from a short break to catch his breath, it’s time for a Q&A with the reporters. When asked what goal he hopes to achieve during the promotional periods for this new album, he replies that he wants to set up a lot of events in order to meet his fans, whom he has too many little encountered because of the Covid.

For him, trying a sexy concept was an opportunity to try other genres of dances and performances. Despite the fact that he wanted to try his hand at this concept, he declares that he does not feel that sexy, but that the real challenge for him was to bring out his hidden charms. For this, he shyly admits having trained in front of a mirror, until he discovered a secret sensuality, surprising him himself. He also trained for his facial expressions by singing and dancing at home, to perfect that sexy aura.

After doing a lot of acting, he really enjoyed preparing this album, doing what he wanted, like the sexy concept, and expressing the ideas he had for this comeback.
