JENNIE, member of the group BLACKPINK, has seen her first solo album “RUBY” recognized as one of the best albums of the year.
On June 5 (local time), renowned American music magazine Rolling Stone published its list of “The Best Albums of 2025 So Far” on its official website, selecting “RUBY”, JENNIE’s first full-length solo studio album.
Regarding the album, Rolling Stone wrote:
“RUBY” offers a fascinating reinterpretation of the musical ideas that dominated 2000s and 2010s pop R&B. JENNIE not only masters the world of candy-coated pop R&B, but also delivers introspective moments reminiscent of the second wave of what Rihanna explored in her 2016 album “ANTI.”
The American media outlet Complex also chose “RUBY” as one of the best albums of 2025, stating:
“RUBY” opens a new chapter for JENNIE. The album showcases the richness and versatility of her vocal tone.
Complex added:
“Tracks like “like JENNIE” highlight her refined pop sensibility and proven performance skills, while ballads such as “twin” reveal a softer, more vulnerable side that demonstrates her vocal range. Notably, JENNIE is the only K-pop artist featured in both Rolling Stone and Complex’s selections for the best albums of 2025.
The album “RUBY” includes 15 tracks, including the title song “like JENNIE,” spanning a wide range of genres. JENNIE personally took part in producing the album, fully expressing her artistic identity.
