QWER
In a deeply moving episode of their series “Choi-ae’s Children” (Saison 3, EP3), the members of the group QWER proved that their music is not just made of catchy rhythms, but also of immense generosity.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Seollal), CHODAN, MAGENTA, HINA, and SIYEON went to the Asan medical center for a very special mission: transforming the profits from their charity flea market into smiles for hospitalized children.
Upon their arrival, the emotion is palpable. The members, who became “teachers for a day,” shared workshops creating keychains and wish lanterns with the children. For MAGENTA, this return to a care center is symbolic, as she has already been recognized for her regular donations.
“It’s vacation time, but there are children here in the hospital. I think it will be a day full of meaning.” — SIYEON
The most powerful moment of the video remains the meeting with Ayeon, a young fan suffering from aplastic anemia. Her father contacted the group to explain how the album “MANITO” was a lifeline during her most painful treatments.
“I listened to QWER‘s songs as soon as things became difficult… Keep singing as you do now for a very, very long time. I wish happiness to QWER.” — Ayeon (in her letter to the group)
Touched by Ayeon‘s maturity, the members gave her exclusive gifts, including a LP edition of “Blue whale” and CHODAN‘s favorite hat. In return, Ayeon offered drawings she made despite her hands trembling because of the medication.
Before leaving, QWER made a solemn promise to Ayeon: to take her memory with them during their world tour in Japan.
“We will wear these keychains [made by the children] on stage. That way, you can feel like you’re there with us, okay?” — QWER
Beyond the memories, the group’s action had a concrete impact:
-
Financial donation: A total sum of 30 million wons (about 21,000€) was donated to the children’s hospital development fund.
-
Moral support: The members filmed a “T.B.H” challenge with Ayeon, thus fulfilling her dream of dancing with idols.
The video concludes with a powerful message from Ayeon‘s father: “The beginning and the story of QWER can be a great hope for some children… Keep shining.” A short encounter, but one where hearts, bound by music, will remain connected for a long time.
